Data and feedback

What a Founder unit reports, what we ask of you, and what we will not do without asking.

Buying into the first batch means the product will change underneath you during its first year, and that we will be in touch more than a finished product would warrant. This page says exactly what that involves, so it is a decision rather than a surprise.

What we ask of you

  • That the unit may report its own operation to us — bound to your serial number before it ships.
  • That we may contact you at day 3, day 14 and day 30 after delivery to ask how it is going.
  • That you will tell us when something is wrong, including the things that feel too small to report.

The unit will also receive firmware updates during the year. You will be told what changed.

What the unit reports

Its own operation, not your household: batch state and outcome, salinity readings and how many corrections a batch needed, preparation time, faults and safety stops, manual interventions, filter and salt-refill events, firmware version, and which salt you told it you are using.

What we do with it

Diagnose your problems remotely, find defects that no bench test would have found, and decide what to fix first. The published test evidence grows from it — aggregated, never attributed to a person or a household.

What we will not do without asking you first

Publish your case. Your photographs, your results, your tank, your name, your company — each of those needs your separate written permission, every time, and permission for one does not carry to another. Being a Founder buyer is not that permission.

Turning it off

Write to support@aqua.eco and we stop collecting. You keep the unit, the warranty and the firmware updates. What you lose is remote diagnosis: support still works, it just gets slower, because we will be asking you questions the logs would have answered.
